Volunteering
The Owls Head Mountain View Community Center welcomes you to help in any way you can. You may choose to donate funds, materials, resources, or your time. No matter what method of support you choose, how big or small it may be, your choice of support enhances the lives in our small community and helps us fulfill our moto as “The Heart of the Community.”

Our existence as a non-profit entity helps through your willingness to volunteer. Volunteering is a noble thing to do for any organization. When you volunteer your time, you provide value to the many events, activities and building needs.
The Value of Volunteers
It is important for us to record our volunteer hours and track their participation. An Independentsector.org report places a dollar value on volunteer time in every state throughout the U.S. This information will show the value of what we do and validate the importance of our existence while recognizing your contribution. This dollar value for volunteer hours will be helpful when applying for specific Grants to improve our building and maintain our service for our small community.
In 2024, our cumulative volunteer estimate was 3035 hours at a value of $113,175.15 from volunteers.
In 2025, our cumulative volunteer report for January is 126 hours at a value of $4,698.54 from volunteers.
We will regularly update and share volunteer data on this page every month.

One example of the value of volunteering:
We constructed our new storage building and eliminated our storage container rental.
Material cost to the Community Center $ 2,078.28
Volunteer hours to construct the building was 72.5 hours (2 volunteers) at a value of $2703.53
Donated materials for helping the construction $201.66

An estimate from a local provider for the similar style and size storage building was just shy of $5000.00 not including delivery charge and construction site setup fee. Volunteering contributed to a significant cost savings.
